And I don't believe the version of Photo Ninja I tried had anything comparable to Lightroom's adjustment brush - which I use often.Ĭhecking the Picture Code (Photo Ninja) website, I do not see the GR listed as a supported camera, which may explain why you were getting unsatisfactory results. Perhaps it was a reflection of my lack of familiarity with the program but I struggled to make adjustments in Photo Ninja that I could make very easily in Lightroom (highlight recovery, etc.).

The Photo Ninja interface was not to my liking. I did just that with Photo Ninja and found I much preferred Lightroom. If you are wondering if other programs may work better for you try downloading trial versions and do some comparisons. I certainly don't consider myself a Lightroom expert but I think it does a great job with GR DNG files. I am using Lightroom, but I thought I saw something somewhere about the default Lightroom Raw processor not being well set up for them. If you don't mind, I'm an interaction designer and I'd be curious to hear what your thoughts are on LR vs ID from a UX perspective? When you say "friendlier" what is it about LR that you like?ĭoes anyone have any thoughts about the best RAW processor for the DNG files in the new GR? But I also tend to deconstruct them and rebuild them in ID. I still use LR periodically because I use VSCO presets at times. I also prefer ID's sharpening and noise tools, but again, I know them well and I'm no longer familiar with LR's. CS6 and CC was enough for me to finally drop CS and look to alternatives when I need PS-like features. I prefer the simpler UI of ID because I don't need all the features of LR and PS (I've also been using ID for years and know it inside and out so it's very familiar and quick for me to use).

I tried Iridient but wasn't quite impressed, I'll stick to LR4 and CS5, much friendlier UIįair enough. Works great with GR files.Īs an aside, it currently the state of the art Fuji Xtrans developer and it also handles Sigma Foveon files very good too. My favorite RAW developer for any camera is Iridient Developer.
